Do you want to help promote our Community Conversations?

We need people out in the community promoting these Community Conversations, and there is grant funding to make sure our community is represented at these meetings. If you, or someone you know likes talking to people, wants to make some extra money, and likes to eat, this is a good opportunity!

What are the Community Conversations?

Over the last six months we have surveyed 2,000 people, held small focus groups with 200 people, and catalogued the different foods available across Columbia. We will present what we heard from the community and we will ask for more input, opinions, and ideas. Everyone who attends these events will get a free meal and the event is kid-friendly; we want to make it easy. These events will be casual, there isn’t a schedule or program, people can come and go as they please. We want the community to ask questions and voice their thoughts about food in Columbia. Do you love the farmers market? Do wish there was better bus service to your favorite grocery store? Wish you cooked more meals at home? There will be lots of opportunity to speak up or leave written feedback.

What is the goal of the Community Conversations?

We want to hear from a diverse audience about food in Columbia. What the community says at these events will be used to start new food-focused projects, and reinforce existing ones. No one has studied food in Columbia like this before. We want to make sure that everyone is getting the food they want and need.

When and Where are the Community Conversations?

There will be two events at the ARC (1701 West Ash St).

Thursday, June 7th 5:30 – 7:30 and Monday, June 18th, 5:30 – 7:30

What is required of Ambassadors?

Our ambassadors are our best promoters. Your main job is to get people to show up at the Community Conversations. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, church family, etc. Word of mouth is the best way to get people involved. This is what we expect of Ambassadors:

  • Talk to your friends, family, co-workers, church family, etc. about the Community Conversations.
  • Hand out flyers to friends, family, strangers, anybody!
  • Send e-mails and share on social media to your friends.
  • Attend both events on June 7th and 18th. At the events you will talk to people about the results we found in our surveys and focus groups, and take their feedback.
  • Attend two trainings. The first will get you ready to promote, the second will get you ready for the events.
